Generally cold milling machines crush the RAP in-place and used to break up the pavement material so that it can be loaded into a truck for crushing at a central plant. The amount of pavement material degradation by cold milling is a function of the aggregate top-size and gradation of the HMA pavement.
Rap crushing is to reduce the RAP to the maximum acceptable particle size. RAP crushers are applied for this process in central plants. Towzingar hammer mill rap crusher is a single-shaft hammer mill style. Crusher designed specifically to break and size RAP up to 8 inches in size. Hammer mill has the steel housing containing a horizontal rotating shaft on which hammers are mounted. The hammers are free to swing on the central rotor. The rotor is spun at a high speed inside the housing while the material is fed into a feed hopper. The material is impacted by the hammer bars and is thereby shredded and then the material passes through screen.
